I submitted a formal complaint to bunq. They replied.

Unfortunately, instead of giving me an actual reason-they gave me a list.

And no, I’m not joking. This is a real quote from their response:

“For clarity, here are some examples of situations that may lead to immediate account closure (this list is not conclusive):”

– Non-compliance with our terms and conditions
– Legal obligations requiring immediate action
– Changes to your risk profile
– Suspected fraudulent or illegal activities
– Providing false or outdated information

Sounds familiar?
Yes-it’s Bingo.
But in this version, every box is a vague excuse, and you’re not allowed to know the actual reason.

Imagine going to a doctor and asking:

“What’s wrong with me, doctor?”

And he replies:

– Could be cancer.
– Could be allergies.
– Maybe a broken leg.
– Maybe you’re faking.
– Or… something else.

And then adds:

“This list is not exhaustive.”

🧠 What Does This Mean?

bunq didn’t give me an explanation.
Instead, they:

listed five generic accusations

clarified that those are just “examples”

and left me guessing-like I’m in a bad procedural drama

This isn’t transparency.
This is theater of compliance.

And all of this…
After they blocked my account without warning.

⚠️ The Technical Part

Some of the “possible reasons” they offered include:

a change in your risk profile (translation: we just don’t like you anymore),

suspected illegal activity (not confirmed, just… suspected),

outdated information (which they had approved months ago).

Translation:
You don’t have to violate anything. It’s enough that they imagine you might.

🧩 In Conclusion

bunq didn’t just close my account.
They deployed a script-one designed to eliminate unwanted users.
And when you ask “why?”, they say:

Here’s a random list. Pick one.

And don’t forget: The list is not conclusive.
